Tom Ruwitch

Tom Ruwitch booked an airline ticket through the online service Compuserve in 1989 and thought, “That’s pretty cool.” But back then, before the first web browser had been invented, Tom had no idea that the business world was on the verge of revolutionary change. Now, two decades later, Tom is a veteran of the revolution, an internet marketing warrior who helps businesses discover and implement online strategies to gain and retain clients and grow profits.

In the 1990s, Tom helped plan and market the first online versions of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, and he created and marketed an online magazine for and by high school students in St. Louis. In 1999, he co-founded SportsHuddle.com, an internet startup that transformed how newspapers publish and market amateur sports statistics online and offline. And in 2001, he founded MarketVolt, the interactive marketing firm he still runs today.

Tom designed the email marketing engine that MarketVolt released in 2001, long before most businesses had even heard of, much less implemented, email marketing. MarketVolt has evolved since then from a software company to an interactive marketing consultancy. Tom has helped hundreds of businesses and entrepreneurs use email, web sites, social media and other online tools to transform their businesses and maximize marketing ROI.

He is a sought-after speaker who shares his knowledge and experience with business around the country. And he writes a monthly marketing column for St. Louis Small Business Monthly.
